Where to Watch Tree Lightings

Looking for a place to “ooh” and “ahh” over beautiful Christmas trees? Here are a few great ones in Central Pennsylvania:

Friday, Nov. 28, 5:15 p.m.

Holiday Tree Lighting, Downtown Mechanicsburg. Music begins at 515; tree lighting, 5:30 p.m. Visit Santa at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (37 E. Main St.) and stop by Believe: A Polar Express Christmas Model Railroad exhibit at the Mechanicsburg Museum Association’s Freight Station (3 W. Allen St.)

Wed., Dec. 3, 5 p.m.

Holiday Tree Lighting, The Chapel at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit, with Santa’s Sleigh Ride, plus caroling and more.

Holiday Tree Lighting, Borough of Mont Alto on the square

Christmas in Downtown Carlisle on the square. Visit with Santa, plus free kids’ activities, caroling, reindeer, wagon rides and more. Tree lighting at 6 p.m.

Sat., Dec. 6, 5:30-7 p.m.

North Middleton Twp. Tree Lighting at North Middleton Township Building. Carolers, story time & holiday crafts, plus Santa arrives by fire truck at 5:45 p.m.

Sun., Dec. 7, noon-dusk

Holidays at the Lake at Children’s Lake, Boiling Springs. A Kris Kringle Market will begin at noon on Front Street with vendors and food trucks. Santa’s Village will open at the gazebo at noon for letters to Santa, a petting zoo, Christmas craft activities, information about birds, storytime and more. The Bubbler Band Christmas Ensemble will perform at 12:30 p.m. Santa will arrive around 1 p.m. and visit until 4 p.m. The BSHS Concert Choir will perform at 5:15 p.m., followed by a tree-lighting ceremony.

Thru Jan. 1, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Christmas Tree Showcase at Hershey Gardens. The signature holiday event features 11 colorful tree displays with twinkling lights; each unique tree is created by a talented local designer. New this year, guests will enjoy a pair of 14-foot and 8-foot poinsettia and tropical trees. The historic Hersheypark Comet coaster car is back for family photo ops and the Butterfly Atrium will be decorated for the holidays. Cost: $13.50-$17.50 museum admission

Through December

7th Annual Festival of Trees at Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. More than 70 decorated trees and wreaths will be on display, plus model train and more. FREE admission. Proceeds benefit Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance. Open daily.
