Kids today are immersed in digital media more than ever – and they start consuming media at much a much younger age. There are risks and benefits that come with media use. The key is to develop habits that help your family strike a healthy balance.
The American Academy of Pediatrics/HealthyChildren.org is offering a webinar, “Media Balance: What’s Your Family’s Plan” on Friday, April 14, from 1-1:45 p.m. ET.
In this free parent webinar, HealthyChildren.org Medical Editor and host, Dr. Jennifer Shu, invites pediatrician and media use expert Dr. Suzy Tomopoulos to join her and discuss how to help children develop healthy media use habits early on. Dr. Tomopoulos will address topics such as
• What is media?
• How much is too much?
• Your child’s first cellphone – how to help determine if they are ready?
• Media priorities – what matters most to your family?
Parents are invited to submit questions when they register or during the live event. Dr. Tomopoulos will answer as many questions from participants as time allows.
Shu is a practicing pediatrician, author, and mom who lives in Atlanta. She is the Medical Editor of HealthyChildren.org, and co-author of Heading Home with Your Newborn and Food Fights.
